EBC Posts Evening Amharic News Bulletin for Tikimt 15, 2019 E.C.

The state-owned Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) has posted its evening Amharic-language news bulletin for Tikimt 15, 2019 in the Ethiopian calendar to its YouTube channel. The date corresponds to October 25, 2026 in the Gregorian calendar.
The bulletin is titled "የምሽት 2 ሰዓት አማርኛ ዜና," or "2 o'clock evening Amharic news." In Ethiopian timekeeping, the hours of the day are counted from about 6 a.m. and the hours of the night from about 6 p.m. A 2 o'clock evening broadcast therefore airs at 8 p.m. local time. Amharic is Ethiopia's long-standing federal working language.
At the time of writing, Addis Gazette had access only to the bulletin's title and date. EBC did not publish a written summary with the upload. Addis Gazette has not reviewed the full program, so this report does not describe the stories, officials or events covered in the broadcast.
The full bulletin is available on EBC's official YouTube channel. Addis Gazette will report separately on any significant developments from the broadcast once they have been reviewed and, where possible, confirmed by other sources.
EBC is Ethiopia's national public broadcaster. It operates television and radio services and publishes content online. It succeeded earlier state broadcasting bodies, including Ethiopian Television and the Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency, and took its current name in the mid-2010s.
The broadcaster carries programming in several languages, including Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Tigrinya, Somali, Afar and English. Its news bulletins generally cover:
As a state-funded outlet, EBC is a principal channel for official government messaging, including policy decisions, ministerial statements and official responses to national events.
On politically sensitive subjects, such as security conditions in parts of the country, official accounts may differ from those of independent and international outlets. Comparing coverage across sources gives a fuller picture.
EBC posts bulletins on YouTube and other digital platforms after they air. This extends its reach to Ethiopians in the diaspora and to viewers who watch news on phones rather than on television. The uploads also serve as a publicly accessible record of what the broadcaster reported on a given day.
Editor's note: This article is based solely on the publicly listed title and date of the EBC broadcast. Addis Gazette will update its coverage if notable news items from the bulletin are verified.
